Lunch & Learn Program - "Hiking Ohio" with Gary S. Williams

The Muskingum County Library System and the Convention & Visitors Bureau invite you to join us for the latest offering in our Lunch & Learn Series. We will be welcoming author and avid hiker Gary S. Williams as he discusses exploring Ohio's trails and byways on foot. His recommendations include over 83 different day hikes all across Ohio covering everything from short strolls to challenging half-day treks. Following his presentation, a representative from Dillon State Park will discuss local trails. Registration is required and limited.

Diabetes Education Seminar with Sharon Graff-Harrison

Please join us for this informative program covering topics like diabetes management, convenient tips for eating healthy and staying active, basics about insulin and GLP-1 agonists and a demonstration of how to use Novo Nordisk devices. "Johnny Appleseed: St. Francis or Steve Jobs?" presented by Dr. William Kerrigan

When John "Appleseed" Chapman died in Indiana in 1845, stories of the eccentric apple tree planter survived in the oral traditions of dozens of Midwestern communities where he had spent his life. In the decades after his death, many of these stories made it into print in regional histories and national magazines, and thus the legend of Johnny Appleseed was born. This talk will examine some of the most persistent variants of the Johnny Appleseed story, including one which portrays Chapman as a selfless and self-denying St.
