Our new website was designed with accessibility at the center.

New accessibility standards for public websites are changing how organizations like the Muskingum County Library System provide information and services online. Rather than simply updating our existing site, we saw this as an opportunity to rethink the entire experience and build a website that is more accessible, consistent, and easier for everyone to use.

The new site was developed with current web accessibility standards in mind, including improved color contrast, clearer navigation, more consistent page structure, mobile responsiveness, and better compatibility across different devices and screen sizes. Accessibility also influenced decisions about our new color palette, page layouts, navigation, and how information is organized throughout the site.

As part of that work, we reorganized the website around the tasks people use most, including searching the catalog, finding events, accessing digital resources, managing library accounts, reserving spaces, and finding information about our locations and services. We also reduced outdated or duplicate content and worked to create a more consistent experience between the MCLS website and the other online tools our patrons use.

Our updated MCLS branding was developed alongside this work, allowing us to create a visual identity that not only reflects the library today, but also supports better readability and accessibility online.

Accessibility is an ongoing process, not a one-time project. The new website gives us a stronger foundation for meeting evolving accessibility standards, keeping information current, and continuing to improve the online Library experience for our entire community.

We welcome your feedback as we continue making the MCLS website as accessible, useful, and easy to navigate as possible.
