After an exciting period of extensive renovations, the John McIntire Library is reopening, and we invite you to celebrate this special moment with us.

Explore the reimagined library, connect with staff, and experience all the new spaces designed to serve Muskingum County for years to come.
We welcome everyone to use all of our library services during this event. This event is family-friendly. All ages are welcome!
The new and improved Friends of the Library Bookstore and the Genealogical Society will be open during the event. The Muskingum County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will also celebrate with signed copies of Before Dillon ($30, limited quantities) and discounted copies of Warning High Water Ahead ($15).
Parking is available in our north lot (along I-70), our south lot by Shinnick Street, as well as along Shinnick Street. Additional parking options include the parking lots of the county building at 205 N. 7th St. and the Muskingum County Conference & Welcome Center at 205 N. 5th St. Downtown Zanesville has many open areas for parking, so we hope to see you there!

Beginning Saturday, May 2, all MCLS locations—including John McIntire Library—will resume regular hours and full services.

The renovated John McIntire Library has been thoughtfully designed to meet the evolving needs of our community while celebrating its rich history.
Highlights include:
- Dedicated children’s spaces designed for creativity, learning, and engaging programming
- A specialized teen area with study space, gaming center, and flexible design features
- A versatile makerspace for hands-on learning, innovation, and technology exploration
- A quiet reading room with historical finishes inspired by the original Carnegie Wing
- A comprehensive Genealogy Library in partnership with the Muskingum County Genealogical Society
- A new home for the Friends of the Library Bookstore
- Nine public meeting spaces, free and accessible for community use
- Updated technology throughout the building
- Additional restrooms for improved convenience
